In just five days, we raised over $200,000 and received 703 gifts from graduates. Mentor a GMA Student!
The Gwynedd Force Mentorship Program is looking for Alumnae Mentors! The program, sponsored by the Alumnae Association in partnership with Gwynedd's Leadership Department, will pair students with alumnae mentors to connect with them throughout the school year.
Alumnae Mentors are asked to meet with their student mentees, virtually or in person, four times throughout the 2023-24 academic year. No matter what career stage you are in, all Gwynedd Mercy alumnae have valuable advice and experience to share with our current students as they embark on the college application process and their future careers.

The Alumnae Association Board gathered at GMA for dinner and their final meeting of the school year. Each member brought items to stock Strawberry Market!

In an effort to keep the shelves of Strawberry market consistently stocked, the Alumnae Association asks for donations from the members of the class years ending in the number that matches the current month. That means during this month (May), we are looking for donations from the classes ending in 5. Please consider supporting this special alumnae-sponsored initiative in one or more of the following ways:

She graduated from Penn State in 2019 with her degree in Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. |

| Graduates Speak at Pre-Prom Assembly
Madison Bell '14 and Ava Scarpato '17 spoke to the Classes of 2023 and 2024 prior to this year's prom. They discussed the importance of making smart choices and building safe relationships. Madi is the Senior Assistant Director of Violence Prevention Initiatives in the Office of Prevention and Education at Northeastern University and Ava is a Registered Dietitian and Founder of Nourish by Ava.

Alumnae Devon Merlino ’15 and Elizabeth Carrozzino ’15 stopped by to say hello to their former teachers and get a tour of the school from Director of Enrollment Management Kim Dunphy Scott '84, P'16, '16. Liz currently lives in Alaska, but made the time to visit her classmate and alma mater after a work conference in Washington, D.C. Welcome back, ladies! |

Sr. Maureen Quigley, G.N.S.H. Celebrates 70th Jubilee
Sr. Maureen Quigley, G.N.S.H., GMAHS Latin and Spanish faculty member from 1983-2003, celebrates her 70th Jubilee as a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart this month. Prior to teaching at GMA, she received a degree in classical languages from Villanova University and an MA in Spanish from LaSalle University. She taught at St. Mary’s Academy in Ogdensburg, New York, and at Melrose Academy in Philadelphia. She also volunteered and lived for many years in Lima, Peru.
After her time at GMA, she was asked by her congregation to serve as coordinator at the Motherhouse in Yardley. She presently resides at Holy Redeemer Lafayette in Philadelphia.
She says, “My life as a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart for 70 years has been so different from what I anticipated when at the age of seventeen, I arrived in Philadelphia to begin my journey. I recall praying on that first day: 'Please let me stay here forever.' | |

The Alumnae Association's Young Alumnae Committee hosted a Martinis in Manayunk happy hour event at Winnie's Manayunk, owned by Winnie Murphy Clowry '77. Friends gathered to reconnect and enjoy delicious food and drinks. The evening was a huge success! |

Standing Against Child Abuse
Kate Daniels Imbesi, Esq. '92, P'22, '25 spoke at the Montgomery County courthouse on April 14 during "Wear Blue Day." On this day, people wear blue in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month to show that they stand united against child abuse, neglect, trafficking, and any violence against children. Kate is the Attorney Advocate and President of the Board of Directors for The Montgomery Child Advocacy Project. Thank you for the important work you do, Kate!

Artist Shares Her Work with Alumnae
Artist Elissa Gore '68 attended the Martinis in Manayunk event after dropping some of her paintings off at Orbit Gallery, an art gallery right next door to the event venue, Winnie's Manayunk. She was traveling from her home in New York City, so the timing made for the perfect opportunity to stop by an enjoy a glass of wine with fellow alumnae. She even got to show off some of her work to other Gwynedd grads! You can find Elissa's beautiful artwork hanging in the gold corridor of GMA, outside the Learning Commons.

| Alumnae Sisters Graduate from College Together
The Hansen quadruplets, three of whom attended Gwynedd, have graduated together from the University of Alabama. Annagrace, Chloe, and Michaela, members of the Class of 2019, and their brother Max were featured on 6 ABC, speaking about their college experience and future plans.
All four Hansens plan to return to Montgomery County where their parents, Kate Lutz Hansen '89 and Bud Hansen, III, live. |

| Students Study Down the Shore Environmental Science students spent the day at The Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor, NJ to participate in a series of barrier beach ecology activities. Students took weather readings, analyzed water samples, and encountered a wide variety of beach wildlife. |

Juniors Recognized for Social Justice Videos
The Sisters of Mercy announced the winners of their annual Social Justice Video Contest. This year's contest featured 47 video entries from students at nine Mercy schools in three countries and two groups of Gwynedd Mercy juniors took honorable mention! Ava Kolp '24, Katelyn McGuire '24, and Jamie O'Donnell '24 presented "Together We Can End Gun Violence" and Shannon Talley '24, Maggie Baker '24, and Alivia Chieffo '24 presented "Stop the Violence."
The video contest was launched in 2017 as a way to connect high school and college students at Sisters of Mercy-sponsored schools with the Critical Concerns of the congregation: Anti-Racism, Earth, Immigration, Non-Violence, and Women. |

Gwynedd Hires New Athletic Director
Rebecca "Becky" Flynn Hensel has been hired to succeed Theresa Fasano P'09, '13 as Athletic Director at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School. Becky brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role at Gwynedd Mercy, having been an educator for 19 years, a coach for 17 years, and a director of athletics for the past nine years at Villa Joseph Marie High School. She has also served as the PIAA Private Schools Representative at the District and State levels. Welcome to the Circle of Mercy, Becky!

Gwynedd Girls Compete in "Guac-Off" The Spanish Club had an end-of-the-year fiesta where the students came head-to-head in a "guac-off" to see who could make the best guacamole. The girls had so much fun mixing, chopping, and tasting their top-notch guacamole. |

The Crew Team was featured on 6ABC Action News during their report on the Manny Flick City Championship Regatta. The Freshmen 8, JV4, and Varsity 8 boats all received Bronze Medals in their respective races, and the 2 Varsity 8 boat finished 5th in their race. Congratulations, rowers! |
